  • Spectrum DX6 info please

I`ve been using the Saturn radio gear up to now which is fine and cheap and cheerful but I`m now getting to the stage where I need to upgrade to something better, mainly so I can share transmitters between projects.

Am I right in thinking a DX6 tx is all I need then fit DSM rx to each robot? I need some pointers in what to buy if anyone can help please.

A DX6 is a "DSM1" transmitter. First generation 2.4 GHz. Not compatible to any newer DSM2 or DSMX generation recievers.
I believe there is no modern, cheap reciever that can communicate with it.
Ideal you'll have a BR6000 reciever to mate with it.

If you talk about the DX6i or simular, that should mate up with the normal series of modern 2.4GHz recievers.

Thanks thats the sort of thing I need to know.
So if I get a DX6i can I then get any DSM2 receivers or are there makes that are incompatible?

I don't think that the Spektrum DX6i is DSM2. The Spektrum DX5i is though (I think).

(Note: This post was to my knowledge, and I was wrong.)

The DX6i is DSM2 compatible, been using it for years. And it will bind with any DSM2 receiver not just their own brand.

The newer DX6i's are DSMx too.

              DX5e & DX6i are both DSM2.

Thanks to all who replied, I`ve had a look round and will get the DX6i mode 2 from around £80 on ebay and go from there.

Ok transmitter acquired (DX6i), has anyone got any recommendations as to which receivers to get and where to get them/what price should I be looking for them at?
                    Thanks

Shop around for the best price. The hobbyking website has instructions on how to set the failsafe up.

I've bought 2 of these to bind with a dx6i, about £7 each from eBay ! Binding is easy and all chanells failsafe to the positions when binded.
I will say aswell the dx6i is factory set to 100mw output the Europe setting, changing to the USA setting will then be 200mw output .
