    Hi everyone for my project a collage I am making a speed controller for a featherweight robot and as part of this it will have an integral failsafe so I was hoping you could answer this question. When you turn off the transmitter does the servo move because of interference or a lack of any signal?

    It all depends if the rx resieves something that can be used as a signal. But most of the time the servo, or speedo will do things you dont want.

      So ....Just to be clear

      Interference is causing the servo jitters.

      Failsafe occurs when there is a lack of a valid / continious transmitter signal ..... i.e. random signals that cause servo twitching will be ignored and the system will adopt the programmed failsafe protocol.

        It usually moves because the servo receives some strange imput from the reciever. If you look at the signal with an osciloscope you can see irratic pulses for shorter or longer perriods of time. The servo wil move if it preceives a pulse, valid or not. If it receives random pulses (noise) it wil move iradically.
        I would guess that when you switch off the transmitter the receiver slowly ajusts the gain of the receiver unitil all it gets is static or it reaches some limit. Thats where the noise comes from.
