  • GR02 + Sabretooth 2x60 problem

    Hi,
I`ve just put together a new feather and its got a Sabretooth dual 60 with GR02 24v motors.
I`ve got 24v of NIMH batteries and all the dips switches are set according to the dimension engineering wizard etc, but nothing is working. The green LED lights up to show its powered up but goes out when I try to do anything, I can hear a clicking coming from somewhere which stops when I pull the power. I am getting 24v output from the speed controller when I operate the RC controller but if a motor is connected then everything dies. The motors work fine when connected directly to the batteries.
Help! - I need it running for Burgess Hill tomorrow but any ideas at all?

update: I can get a 14.4v GR01 to run fine so it looks like incompatibility with the 24v GR02, still any ideas gratefully accepted. I`m about to do some quick mods to the robot so we`ve got something for tomorrow!

Just replied to your email. There's a possibility it's a BEC issue, if as you say the motors are working OK directly off the battery. Are you already using a separate BEC, or would you have one or a battery pack to test with?

How many motors sometimes these speed controllers are too clever for their own good.
They tend not to like driving 2 drill motors off the same channel had this with Tron with a Sabretooth dual 24A,
Also if there is a small fault on one of the motors it can detect this try each motor connected at a time.
I had this with Kettle bot found one motor all OK the other was U/S even though it worked direct to the battery.

Now sorted, looks to be one of the motors. No idea why it should stop both working when connected to the Sabretooth but the other one works fine on its own on either channel. Both work fine when direct to the battery.
Ewan from Gimson has kindly sorted the problem.

I have now fitted replacement 18v motors and they are working fine.
            Thanks to all who helped.
