  • Can someone in the know explain the mechanics of a good roll over bar / hoop?

As above, I'm looking to make a roll over hoop for the unamed wheel robot lol and wondered if any one could elaborate on the finer points of a good hoop design B)

Centre of gravity as far below the centre of the hoop as you can get it so it will actually work and a stiff material so it maintains shape.

As for shape you'll want to make sure that when the roll hoop ends your centre of gravity falls within the base of your robot so you'll end up back on your wheels. Also making it more pointy at the top (sort of egg shaped) will make you even more unstable upside down and less likely to get stuck

They don't work reliably. Used to have em on boner. Make the bot invertible.

I agree with Gary, even if you can only get 2 of your 4 wheel to touch the ground like on Conker & Conker 2 you can still stay mobile.

Yeah they don't work... unless you have an existing arm down the middle. Then the failure rate is late nineties.

The Morgue was the best by a long shot. Watch Ming 2 vs The Morgue to see How little energy it takes.

I'll have a look at that fight. I'm bricking it a bit as I'm 3/4 finished and it's a bit late to be thinking about making it invert-able.
