Lots of people are using deans connectors for their removable links, but a number of people lost fights at the champs because they links fell out.
I used a waterproof connector in Splinter and it worked really well. They have a rubber seal to keep rain out which give it a really secure connection. Here's the one I'm using. It had a clip on top that joined the two halves together but I cut it off and just relied on the waterproof seal. You could leave it on I guess to guarantee it would never fall out.

You can get 4 and 6 pin versions if you wanted 2 or 3 removable links in one.

I personally think that EC5's are the way to go. Where deans only have a one side of the tap in connection, giving a very limited amount of friction, EC5s use inter-slotting circles and connecters. They probably have about 4x the surface area, are harder to pull out and, I find, easier to assemble than deans.
