is fare as i can see in the rules, these batterys can be used like NiCds, NiMhs, and Pb battery's, but why arnt they used in feather weights very much?

they seem slightly lighter and are used in heavys often. But less often in FWs? is there a reason i cant see? And if there isn't, to my understanding of the rules, they require no peticular precautions (like LiPos) so can be charged with in the robot?

Your right in regards to the rules, there are no issues using them. A few featherweights do use them but the cost tends to be quite abit higher than lipo's in some cases, along with being abit heavier and larger for the power.

Another advantage is that you can recharge them in the robot. No doodling around with Lipo bags and such.

The originals, A123, came only 1 usable size. The 2300mAh round cells. Fairly bulky for the power, and as expensive as the better LiPo. On the other hand, the pack in Hannibalito 3 still goes great after a lot of events. So it was a good investment.

Now we have acces to Chinese knock offs in flatpack. In other words, the same shape/size as LiPo, for a tad less voltage.

But, for feathers, LiPo will do equaly fine, just a bit more fiddly bits to follow the rules.
