  • Weapon control system help???

    Hi all,

If anyone has seen my build thread i am constructing a FW with a low powered flipper/self righter running off a ford mondeo seat actuator. My question is what is the best way of controlling this? ESC or to build a switch? ideally i would like it to run with a simple push of a switch on my controller and the flipper to open fully and then return to its original closed positon? is this easily accomplished? or is there a alternate suggestion.

Any advice/ diagrams would be amazing.

    Thanks everyone

on scruffys lifter i used a 50a blue rc speed controller and micro switch with diode to it wold stop just before it hit the back panel

You can use an old servo board and two relays.

Now the servo idea sounds good as i have many spares, my one problem being that being very new too this hobby i haven't the faintest idea as to where to begin doing it? would it be to much trouble to ask for a basic drawing or possible link to somewhere with instructions. (im a pain i know)

        thankyou

          Re: Weapon control system help???

          Glad to help.

          All you will need is:

2x Relay 6v coil and double position contact (make sure you get the right relay to handle your motor in terms of amperage)
2x Diode (regular diode that can handle 1/2a is enough)
          1x Servo circuit board

This works very well, i use this circuit to control my drive motors and will use to control my DIY linear actuator, but i never tested it in battle becouse i am from Portugal. Using an ESC like Plargen sugested is the best/most comon way to control a linear actuator.

Good thing about that circuit is that you can attach the output of your big motor to the servo arm for feedback. Acts like a giant servo and can be used with the transmitter mod that some antweights use for their flippers (47k ish resistor shorted across the top half of the throttle channel via button)

You'll want to change the connection order on the relays so their normal state is off and not shorting the battery by attaching both Normally Closed pins to battery +, both Normally Open pins to battery - (or the other way around, doesn't really matter) and the motor across the Common pins.

First you said that the positive and negative battery wires were wrong, but then you said or the other way around, doesn't really matter. I am confused, is the circuit right or wrong?

                Re: Weapon control system help???

The way you have it set up now the motor will be on when a neutral signal comes from the transmitter (bad) and when you tell it to go forwards or backwards the battery will get shorted out (also bad).

You want to stick the motor across the common terminals of the relays, one side of the battery to normally open and the other side to normally closed like so.

Edit: Either that or I've got the terminals on your diagram mixed up.

That's exactly what i have drawn. Maybe it is a little confusing due to the way i drawned it.
