  • Mtroniks Speed Controls

Just thought I would mention this...I've been using Mtroniks Speedo's in my racing buggies for a good ten years. Whilst looking for some cheap robot speedo's I thought I'd have a look at their website. I've noticed they do a range of boat speedo's at the 10-30 amp mark that look in line with Electronizes etc. I'm gonna order a couple and will let you know how it goes. Please have a look at the link below:

    Re: Mtroniks Speed Controls

Some of the RoboChallenge guys use Mtronics, and I use them in my Buggy. There's only a couple that are suitable for our use though, and the amp ratings seem to be peak. Very small though, but I concluded there were better options for the money.

Do the robo challenge events run to the same rules? A lot of the kits seem to be different weight categories ie 6kg instead of 13.something kg etc.

Yes they do, except as the arena is of higher spec you can run spinners.

The Scot-Bot kits are built to the Featherweight weight limit, with the planned upgrades that will be available soon it should be almost bang on the weight limit, the basic kit is around 11kgs.

Are the kits expensive? And are they available yet? I'd be interested in one.

              Re: Mtroniks Speed Controls

I wouldn't say they were expensive, cheap for what they are and they can be really competitive, especially the 4WD one with no chance of losing money on trial and error stuff. Theres some videos of the 2WD ones at last years years UK HW Championships on youtube somewhere. Good first bot to have as its not as dangerous as some yet still definitely not a toy

I'm sure I have a spare charger kicking around somewhere too, so whoever orders one of the 4WD ones first that needs a charger they can have it for nothing, just let me know if you decide you want one I really want to see them being used at events.

Wasn't brave enough to spend the remaining budget on unknown ESC's so bought a Sabertooth this morning lol.
