  • Speed 900 Alternatives

    Hi

After finding out that the Graupner Speed 900's are no longer being made, and failing epicly at trying to find any alternitives, does any one know of any motors with the same kind of specs.

I am getting kinda desperate after spending a good couple of months designing a half decent bot using Speed 900's

    Thanks

    Re: Speed 900 Alternatives

Actualy, the Graupner Speed 900's are Johnson 51mm diameter motors.
Several variants are available trough Ebay.
Also, as long there isn't a disk or axe slicing trough the motor, for drive those are rock solid.

Afters 9 years of hard use , I know of 2 failures of a speed 900 or equivalent motors in a drive application.
    1) Hannibalito 1, because Little Hitter dented the body and broke the magnets.
    2) Plofbox II after a meeting with Hornet II. The axle was bent 90°.

        Re: Speed 900 Alternatives

They have stopped producing S900's! Why is it that everything in Conker II is slowly being replaced... no I have no drive or weapon replacements!

Looks like I am going to have to go to a HK-50...

          Like these ones: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Johnson-60...item19d5340368

They seem more like the Speed 600 specs though

              Re: Speed 900 Alternatives

I am thankful I have 1 spare at least :P

My only failure with a 900 was burning one out at the UK champs in 2010, but that's because I was running it when it was being resisted for about a year.

Well, I better get searching for alternatives.

                  Re: Speed 900 Alternatives

I think I'll cling to my supply... Sooner or later A speed 900 will be worth it's weight in silver.

                        Re: Speed 900 Alternatives

That is the motor Graupner rebatches as a Speed 900.

Now it's the question, will Johnson sell these motors directly to the roboteers or a shop that caters to us?
