  • Transmitter / Receiver

Do you think this will do for a first set ?

Or would anyone care to recommend something else (that's not too expensive)

    Re: Transmitter / Receiver

People mostly use Spektrum gear, you can get cheap Rxs is abundance on eBay (called Orange Rxs). But a basic controller (A DX5E) is more than your link.

    Your other options are:
The Planet 5 set (popular with beginners) I've never used them.

The Radio Link set. Cheap but we had endless problems with them binding and actually binned it in the end!

The FlySky set, another cheap option, never personally used though.

And the HobbyKing super cheap set, which is actually a re-branded FlySky set. I have one of these and was very impressed. The Aussies use them a lot.

And you can re-program them, which I detail here:

The set you linked should be fine, but I'd stick with stuff other people use for the mean time since they can then help you.

      Re: Transmitter / Receiver

We have the Planet 5, and have used it for well over a year now with no issues, our only complaint is that for the money it's quite basic.

I don't have experience with anything else at the moment, but for our next machine I am looking into something relatively new on the block: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... de_2_.html

For the money it looks very good. If anyone here has used this do chime in!

I was also looking at that, $30 delivery from Hong Kong though, lots of complaints of the screen breaking and no DSMX only DSM1/2. Still cheaper than a DX6i!

If you're still looking for cheap then there's this:

If you're looking for featureful for a good price then there's also this:

Think I shall go for the Planet 5 set. Thanks for the advice
