Welcome one and all, to another episode of Matt can't build robots...

I've build a speed controller using a couple of servos and speed controllers (linked a picture) and so far it's not working with the motors I'm putting up to it... The microswitches are 5A rated, running a 7.2v Battery (this combination may be the problem) up to 12v Motors because that's all I have available at the minute...

Have I done all of this completely wrong, and if not does anyone know what the problem may be? Thanks in advance...

I'm struggling to work out what you'll be using this in? It'll be physically too big for an AW and not rated highly enough for a FW surely? Pictures don't seem to load for me on the forum so maybe better using Photobucket or something to make it easier to help you out

Presumably when you say you're using servos and speed controllers to build a speed controller you mean you're using switches instead?

Or looks like 4 microswitches make the same on/off connection to the same 2 wires, this will only give 1 direction of controll and propably melt the switches aswell. Speed controllers for feathers are cheap now.

It's for a 6.5KG bot I'm doing for a school project, low rated because it's all I had on me at the time and I can't afford better stuff/speed controllers... Oh, and I did mean switches - sorry about that D:

Thanks for the help both of you also, managed to get it working now with the age old trick of putting the battery in. Should really not be an idiot before I panic and ask for help D:

        Thanks!

Oh, and @terry - thanks for the heads up, I'll see if I can modify the design a bit to work temporarily to get the thing at least somewhat moving for my school project, then might invest in some speed controllers as soon as I can if that's the case!

2 of these will set you £30 back, and will do what your own setup should do.
