this will sound stupid but im tyred and ive had alot of exams but where do i put the power light in the wire loom thing? thanks

You need to wire it in parallel with the rest of the circuit, with the positive being AFTER the link (IE: the light comes on after the removable link makes the connection).

a 12v led will work fine

I`ve got a pile of leds already but I suppose its just as easy to get that as a resistor.

Just do a search on google. There are calculators that will give you the resistor value
