  • esc issue

my electronize are playing up, one side is acting fine but the problem is the other

its fine on low power but when on full, the problem happens after the stick on the TX is back in neutral

one wheel will stop but the other will stay on at full power, will sometimes stop after about 4 seconds, will sometimes throw it's self back the other way and will sometimes just keep going until I pull the link out

really not sure what the problem could be so if anyone has an idea it would be helpful, dont want too buy a new one, far too tight fisted for that

    Re: esc issue

I used to have to give the relays a good thump with the end of a screwdriver to solve that problem in Cicatrix.

          Re: esc issue

honestly not sure and would have even less idea how to cure that

just put the link in and if i hit the esc' it will power up without the tx even on

            Re: esc issue

get the soldering iron out and remove the old relay. Replace it with a similar one. And I would practice soldering before doing it (based on the connections that were in smidsy)

That is how you fix it.

                That's a bit mean.

Yeh the relays used to stick in Bitza too, except it was when you put the link in. A few hard whacks from other robots and they're good as new!

It's not mean. It's solid advice that's not been sugar coated.

                    Re: esc issue

will have too, Smidsy wasnt my best work as I had to solder it all up in one night, bit of a rush but they all held

you only got smidsy with the motors in and they came too me like that so not sure what connections your talking about

                      Re: esc issue

                      never mind about smidsy

For a more detailed answer to your question, if you open up the casing of the electronize you will see a large relay in the middle of the board at one end. This has 8 pins underneath soldered to the board. You have to unsolder these 8 connections carefully then put another relay in it's place and solder it on (look for videos on youtube etc for advice on soldering)

                        Re: esc issue

Can you recommend a good relay? maybe even one with a higher amp rating as a mod for both esc's?

Linking to this website is a bit odd, so go to hints & tips and then Electronize speed controller external relay mod. Assuming you're using 30a models, it should help.

I believe the 15a versions are different.

I'm using the 15a ones so not sure how they could differ
