I used them up until a few days ago in Eric Jr and didn't use a external BEC or do any surgery on the wires.

Few simple things you can check:

Are the switches on the ESC in the ON position?
Are the batteries charged?
Is it wired up ok?

thanks it now only works (very badley) for the first few seconds?

shove a picture up of how you've wired it. btw it's a good idea to take the switches off and solder the wires together.

i would lol bit of a problem the robot is in peices due to major re design lol so it will have to wait but thanks anyway everyone
