  • Supplier of Hardox

I've had a look around the forum and have found people after hardox (Wanted section) and no replies. So can anyone give me a number or link for a source of hardox, thanks in advance.

    Re: Supplier of Hardox

I think the problem is that the kind of hardox people are after (3.2mm) is its hard to come by. i've got quite a bit of 3.2mm hardox but its the kinda stuff i'd rather keep for the future as im pretty sure i heard somebody say 3.2mm hardox sheet is in such low demand they arn't going to bother making it anymore.

so if your not lucky enough to find somebody willing to part with any, try jlsteels or just google it and see what different metal suppliers have in stock.

JL steel don't bother with 3.2mm. Only 4mm minimum. 3.2mm costs around 3 times as much as 4mm. You might as well just buy a sheet of 4mm and find a surface grinding company to take it down to 3.2mm. Would probably still work out cheaper!

Thanks guys for the help, I've been Googling it and this forum pops up saying how hard it is to come by LOL ! I think i will make it in normal steel and have it treated afterwards.

            I think I read SSAB won't roll 3.2mm Hardox 400 or 450 anymore.

Adapt your plans, and use 4mm, cheaper and easier to aquire.
