Hi, I want to know everything I'm getting together will work, I've included an image of the Scorpion XXL, with what I believe to be the transmitter input circled. I'm sorry for what is probably a very obvious question, but

    a) I circled the holes TX and RX. Is TX the power source, and RX the receiver? Also, where do the motors plug in, the receiver plug in, and the power plug in?

b)I also circled plugs on the receiver, how do these connect, they are labelled with numbers, I assume 3 of them fit into a adapter which at the opposite end will plug into the Scorpion XXL? If not, how will they conenct?

Thanks, also the names of these plugs and abbreviations on the speedo would be appreciated.

the futaba plugs plug into the rx. the rx does not go on the circuit board

      Re: Wiring

So you're saying that the Planet 1 will not plug in, but a futaba will, directly into the speedo?

        Re: Wiring

your a bit confuzzled arent you :P
you asked for the names of the conecters, the plugs coming out of the scorpion are futaba or hitec (same difference) plugs
they plug in to any reciver with 3 pins so the planet 5 reciver will work fine (even though its a terrible in my opinion)

          Re: Wiring

The speed controller will come with instructions, i suggest you read them VERY CAREFULLY before turning on the power.

The cables tied up at the bottom of the speed controller plug into the receiver (make sure this is the correct way round or you will blow the reciever)
The batteries connect to the top two screw terminals on the speed controller (again, make sure they are connected correctly as this will blow your speed controller)
The motors connect to the screw terminals at the sides of the board.

            Re: Wiring

            seems the abreviations are confusing you;

TX is short hand for transmitter.
RX is short hand for Reciever.

the board as alan said is probably labeled if you look closely with a + and - symbol...

+ means positive connection from the battery (red wire)
            - means negative connection from the battery (black wire)

              Re: Wiring

Thanks, I understand it all now, I chose planet 5 because I don't want to spend too much money, I'd rather build it and then imrove what needs improving, and the Scorpion XXL doesent have a manual printed yet
What I'm still struggling with is why theres holes for the transmitter on the speedo, why would the transmitter need to connect to the Scorpion?

EDIT:Sorry for that last silly question, they're jumper ports!

                Re: Wiring

                in basic terms...

when you move the stick on the transmitter forwards to tell the robot to drive forwards... a signal goes through the air in a wave form... this is picked up by the reciever (rx) inside the robot...

the rx then sends a signal matching what youve told it to do in to the speed controller.. the speed controller then allows electricity to flow from the batteries into the motors moving the robot forwards.

On the picture uve linked to there are 2 ribbon cables coming out of the esc with a small 3 pin plug on the end... these cables plug into your reciever.

                    Re: Wiring

One thing with the motor terminals, I would use an O shaped end to the wire, (Cant think of the name!), but there is only one screw, do both ends go under one screw, or is the Scorpion XL in fact a 2 motor speedo?

                      Re: Wiring

scorpion xl is a dual motor controler, so you only need 1

                        Sounds a bit rude

Thanks for answering all my stupid questions, I wanted at least 3, preferably 4 channel ESC, are there any out there suitable for feather weights, because I can't find any on Robot Marketplace, RobotPower and such. Will I have to use two ESC's, (I've heard of this being done) ,if so is there a diagram of how to do so?

Why do you want a 4 channel esc? Are the other 2 for a weapon?

                              Re: Wiring

Channel 3 was for a flipper, I'm planning on getting one I can start with around 8 bar pressure and maybe higher,
channel 4 preferably, incase it ends up being invertible and need controls switched round, or srimech if the flipper cant self right the 'bot.
The flipper probs wont self right, since I'm planning a funny shape for it, hence channel 4.

BTW, its a featherweight, 'cos 8 bar on a heavyweight would be ridiculous!
