minimum amps needed for it to run and would this battery work ok http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-2600mAh-A ... 474wt_1032

      with this esc http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380354033882? ... 475wt_1033

Right, I see what you mean now. The motors will try to draw more than that battery can provide, you probably want something sub c, like this:

        http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12v-NiMH-3300 ... 336e797b7a

I use those escs in Eric Jr, they're ok but a bit on the cheaper side of things, if you're on a budget and just looking for something that runs then they can be good. We get away with running them at 14.4v for a little extra speed, if you want to do that you would want to use a battery similar to this:

        http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/14-4v-3700mAh ... 3353ee4262

        Or, 2 of these:

        http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/7-2V-3300mAh- ... 336e7982cb

But for a first robot 12v will get you going at least and it is a little bit cheaper too

I don't see the reasoning anymore.

A set of Gimsons, depending on type and wheel, 7.2 - 18V batterypack and go with it.

He started his build long before the Gimsons came out again.

              That is why I wrote.

In any case, I messured el cheapo drillmotors at 100A+ microseconds before these became magic smoke, and I meassured Speed 720 Torque motors with less than 10A stall and had to wait 10 minutes before these became hot to the touch.

                Re: argos drill motors

i actually like the agros ones, if your seriously tight and dont mind spending the time taking them apart making your own mounts then argos one are good as they cost half the gimson ones

i use 15a esc's with 30a fusus on 18v and their really quick

although, if you can afford it, go for the gimson motors

thanks but im tight on space so would the first ones work or are the amps to low?

                    Re: argos drill motors

He already has his motors, and a build diary somewhere if I remember right. As I said, those ESC's will work and from what I can tell from Eric Jr, the ESC last longer than the wheels do at 14.4v, so should do you fine.

                        Re: argos drill motors

Bitza used 12v Argos drill motors and ran on 14.4v it was pretty powerful at first, but after only a few mins of test driving the motors/gearboxes de-graded to the point where we had to change them before our first comp. Then the ones we changed to only lasted one comp, so something of a false economy.

I dunno if it was the motors of gearboxes that went but I didn't expect much more for £10 each.

I do like the look of the Gimsons, my only concern is the low voltage of those Motors.

                          Re: argos drill motors

Cicatrix runs argos motors on 19.2v and has done for 2 events plus demos, hasnt managed to kill any yet.

Dont use those batteries, from memory, they cant deliver enough current, use the sub C sized ones instead.

Its hard to tell what the meaning was there Max as I had already answered both questions
