  • Run out of controls on Spektrum DXi6

    Hi All

I have just discovered that I may have to many things on my robot to control with the transmitter I have, the Spektrum DXi6.

Currently I have the Right analog stick doing my driving and what would be the throttle/left analog on an aircraft doing the weapon speed.

I now also have a linear actuator but I cant figure out a way of controlling it from the same transmitter. I has occoured to me to use the rudder control with an ESC to control it but having my weapon and shrimech on the same stick seems stupid/dangerous/asking for trouble!

    Any ideas?

so one stick for foward, back etc

other one, up and down for disk, left and right for actuator

i dont see much of an issue there, just got to be careful

I thought the dx6i has two more channels on switches that you can use for the srimech?

If your linear actuator has limit switches or you're careful to not over extend the actuator it could work.

It doesn't have limit switches which is annoying but yes there are maybe 5 more switches on the transmitter but I believe they are for reversing the direction of various controls, for example they all follow the format... EVEL D/R and AIL D/R etc, though there is FLAP/GYRO which I could use

Just stick it on the rudder channel. Doesn't seem dangerous to me, just practice trying to move the srimech stick while keeping the throttle stationary.
Also, as it's a srimech, you'll be using it when you're upside down, during which point I imagine you don't need your disc to be spinning. So pull the throttle down to stop the disc, then engage the actuator to turn yourself over. Since this will all be happening in the arena, there's not much of a danger element. But if you're testing at home, as a rule of thumb always check the position of all the sticks and switches on your transmitter before turning anything on. If you don't do that, THEN it can become dangerous.

Thanks I will need to practice driving anyway so that will be just 1 more thing to learn
