Deans Connectors

Hi,
I've got a load of deans connectors but I just can't get them to push together, I've even tried squashing them in a vice but still no joy, does anyone have any advice?
Also are standard Tamiya connectors rated high enough for robot use?

I had to squash the spring clip things downs little but they fit in the end, it's just the job of finding two that are compatable

Just think though, if they are that hard to get together then they aren't likely to come apart!

Used 1 Tamiya connector in Bitza and it was fine, but I wouldn't use them for any sort of intense circuitry.

so what would you recomend i use instead of deans connectors?

I think Deans are the best design.

In my experience Anderson's come apart under heavy jolts too easily, and Tamiya's can't handle the current.

I've never had a problem with Deans being difficult to put together, then again I use cheapy knock off versions. £1.50 a set! Bugger off!

Silly question time. Are you sure you are putting them together correctly? Are you having problems before or after soldering? I have found in the past that you can warp the plastic if you keep heat on them too long. Don't bother using anything else as deans are some of the best connectors for featherweight combat

i think i am putting them together right but it seems odd that they don't work so maybe i am doing it wrong

Post a photo, it may be something obvious.

They're not the easiest thing in the world to solder on to so you may well have warped the plastic.

Ec3 and ec5 connectors are the way to go
