Could you use Timing pullys and belts instead of gears to drive a speed 900 on a 10:1 ratio?

If you can find the right sized pulleys then sure but you will struggle with such a large ratio

10 to 1? What size of wheel?

A speed 900 has a 6mm axle. So, the smallest diameter timing wheel is 12mm. Meaning the big wheel needs to be 120mm.

I would say, for a 10-1 ratio, you need a 2 stage setup.

yeah, just a thought. Proberbly cheaper to go back to cogs.

That much reduction in a single stage is a pain be it belts or gears ('cogs' isn't usually used btw). Maybe look into multi-stage planetary gearboxes or have a spur gear first stage and belt/chain second stage - probably what I'd do if I needed that much reduction.
