  • HP flipper ram

    OK, Few questions
1 What would I need to make one of these?
2 Who would be able to make me one of these.?
3 How would I design it? CAD?
3 What kind of valve would I need to operate the cylinde?(it would need to be able to take 700psi and run on 12vDC)
4 Would I need an air compressor to test it?
5 How much(roughly) would this process cost?

Suggestion, speak to Mario or Kenny. Alternatively sign up to Bupa and take it from there. It's very dangerous stuff at those pressures so best to buy something and then fit it.

      Re: HP flipper ram

      1. most rams are made from either steel or aluminium (lighter)
      2. mario or kenny
      3. cad is best in my opinion but kenny also accepts to scale high detail drawings
      4. valve wise a 24v burkert 5404 and some sort of voltage booster
      5. no
      6. it depends how large your ram is and what it's made from, full ali rams are lighter but more expensive. a burkert is £100 ,600g co2 bottle is £45

just tell him what you want and he will do it
ie 58mm bore and the stroke you want etc and it wil be sorted

Acces to a lathe or a mill, and the knowledge to use those machines.

2 Who would be able to make me one of these.?
Several roboteers have done so in the past.

3 How would I design it? CAD?
I use a sheet of paper.

3 What kind of valve would I need to operate the cylinde?(it would need to be able to take 700psi and run on 12vDC)
A Burkert 5404 is the most used valve, but I never had a 12V solenoid. Also, it will need to take 1000psi, that is the rule. A Burkert 5404 is know to be able to withstand way over 1000 psi, but can't switch it,. That's the reason why most use that, it's accepted as safe. Other valves used are custom setups with ball valves and actuators.
4 Would I need an air compressor to test it?
No, any source of compressed inert gas with a regulator is fine.

            Depends on your wishlist.

Slightly of the ram but still to do with HP pneumatics, What does a regultaor do and would I need one?

                Re: HP flipper ram

a regulator turns high pressure co2 into lower pressure co2. if you're building a hp system you don't need one

Slightly off topic but it's not worth a new thread: Has anybody got a 16oz paintball tank to hand they could roughly measure for me?

                  Thanks,
