i made one a few years ago called pinsor which was kan opener like, with the mechanism for the claws you loose alot of force so what the actuator gives out you'll get alot less in the claws. i used a 40kg actuator in the first hoizontal crushing pinsor and only ended up with 10kg in the claws.

i found aswell no matter how well i made the claws they got easily damaged to the point where 1 set i spent a few days making lasted 1 event before they we're written off so in the end i gave up with it lol but im making a new version but with a vertical claw instead already its got the power to go through 8mm of hdpe and polly etc something which the old pinsor couldn't ever manage.

think theres a few pics on my old team website, havn't been on it in years thou

ive tried to get around that problem by using 3mm steel box section for my claws with re-enforcing in the corners. yes they will be heavy but they hopefully wont be written off so easily

strengthen everything on them especially the piviot point where the claws are attached to the robot, alot of strain goes through that.

in the first claws i made i found the holes i drilled got all stretched and made the claws loose so on the newer claws i drilled some steel plate and welded that inside the box section to make the joint stronger.

aswell in the fully open position, make the claws pull against your chassis so they are basically locked to the robot so any shocks and bashes from regular driving about wont damage your mechanism, i had the problem of breaking down whilst they were half closed, major damage rammed it into the wall and gave it a chuck about etc and that distroyed the mechanism and 1 of the claws - i wasnt happy at the time lol
