  • A crazy idea for a fbs

I have just had a very crazy idea of how to make an invertable full body spinner,
It consists of an outer spinning 'ring' (the spinning part of the spinner!) mounted on a giant bearing, with permanent magnets connected to it, inside the ring are the inerds of the robot and wheels which are taller than the robot (to make it invertable!). But most importantly of all there would be some electromagnets inside the robot (which is inside the ring). These electromagnets would be connected to some special computer gizmo to make it in effect a giant brushless motor!
Correct me if I am wrong but I think that a brushless motor of that size would be immensely powerful and you wouldn't have to worry abot any gears, pulleys, friction drives or gearing!
What do you think of this crazy idea?

I've been trying to remember what the bot was called. It's an american spinner but I cannot remember if it was a ring spinner like Max's idea or a regular FBS. Think it was in the beatleweight class rather than a featherweight as well. But its a similar concept.

Found a picture of Motorhead, which is a Hobbyweight but not the robot that I was thinking of. I'm still looking for it.

I remember hearing Glyn say at the 2010 champs that he wanted to build such a spinner.

The bot i come to think of is Shrederator from the US, using that ring type of fbs
