    Re: drill motors

The gearbox that the motor has attached you want to keep, and if you're low on money, you can use the batteries too.

          Re: drill motors

the screw inside the chuck is a reverse threaded screw, ie you turn it clockwise to loosen it off. Then the chuck will rotate off in the regular way. Keep a hold of the screw.

            Re: drill motors

Left loose, right tight. For a reverse thread it is the opposite of that. On the drill the only reverse thread screw on it will be the one in this link, 3rd picture down on the left.

Hope that helps with the rest of it too.

              Re: drill motors

good guide but i'd recommend using m5 grub screws in the ball bearing holes to secure the drill gearbox rather than the o ring method as the o ring will likely degrade over time.

                Re: drill motors

grub screws work, but I use the spring pushing the ball bearings onto the plate.

                  Re: drill motors

problem with that method is that if the screws holding the plate on come off then you've lost your locking mechanism. The other issue doing that is that you can't use the easy to use drill motor mounts.

                    Re: drill motors

what i have is the spring tightly pressed against the plastic and the motor mounts like jamie uses to hold the motor still.

Ahh yeah, I use the M5 grub screws too, just meant for a picture of the reverse thread screw. That guide does say a small amount at the bottom about the grub screw method too

Sorry to hijack slightly but what's the reliability like on 18v?
