i have been offered a actuator with 4 stroke (10mm i think) but if i got the claws positioned properly on the robot etc would it be enough to lets robots in and enough to close and keep them in?

Re: enough stroke for claws?
4 inch sounds a bit small but i all depends on the claw design really, to get an actuator of 4 inch stroke to make a claw close fully it would have to have a small ratio of attachment so i wouldn't get it unless it was of a decent force, 100kg at least.
i think that makes sence lol

Re: enough stroke for claws?
Stroke doesnt matter at all. if you have a shorter stroke actuator all you do is have the actuator pushing closer to the pivot point of the claw. The closer your actuator pushes to the pivot point of the claw the more movement you will get on the claw. But remember the closer you get to the pivot point you will have less power at the tip of the claw.
