  • Dean Connector Mounts

I have been talking to a few roboteers about producing a batch of Removeable link mounts with Dean connectors similar to those I have CNC machined for Tiberius and NST.
The design is well proven now using an interference fit between the polypropylene or LDPE housing. The housings can be easily attach to the chassis or what ever on the robot via screws or bolts through the pre drilled holes.

It makes fitting the fixed portion of the removeable link very easy and makes for a neat job.

If theres enough interest I'll gather more preferences on design (single/twin dean, sizing etc) and run a batch off. The intention would be to sell them pri cheap with a pair of Dean connectors (with the none removeable part pre-pressed into the housing).

I've got a couple of pics, the 4 way is a time consuming and well made version in Tiberius, the other a very rushed effort made and fitted to NST the day before the champs.

Post here or PM me if you are interested.

    Cheers
    Sam

Yeah I'd definitely take one (maybe even two or three) as they're tricky little devils to mount otherwise. Usually hot glue is called for, although at the champs I didn't even bother and just left it loose.

A twin connector design like NST would be great for my bots, would encourage me to have separate links for the drive and weapons.

And me. A single-deans mount sounds most appealing - I dare say you could even design a slot-based one that would allow others to be added if need be?

              Re: Dean Connector Mounts

Ok guys i've got an update... i've started making some single prototypes and will get onto the final design of single and double mounts in the next few days.

Specs on the first prototype single mounts i've made are:
              - weight 7 grams
              - size 12mm high * 30mm wide * 24mm long
              - mounting....
can be attached from the side like in NST (i just used two screws thru a bulkhead into the plastic) but could easily be bolted.
alternatively could be attached from above or below the mount. I'll put a picture up soon to make things clearer.

Hope this sounds like it will suit most robot's requirements.

                  Re: Dean Connector Mounts

Sam bought a prototype version of the single link round last night and they do like like a very nice way to mount your links.
Robo Challenge will be stocking both the single and double link version's shortly. Nice one dude
