Hey guys, I am attempting to build my own FW, I have a general idea of what Motors and Weapon I would like to use, but that's all, what other parts do I need?

Re: New FW
If it's your first machine I would think carefully about whether or not a spinner is a wise idea. It's great to say that you wanna build a spinning weapon but there is a hell of a lot to take into account when first designing it to mechanically work, then making it realiable and finally and most importantly making it safe to operate.

Re: New FW
I'm pretty confident I can make a spinner, I have made a sumo bot before but it was from a kit
(I'd like to do a spinner because there are too many rammers around and flippers are also quite common plus I know absolutely nothing about pneumatics)

Re: New FW
You also need to know where everything needs to go so then the robot is balanced. Also, KEEP THE WEIGHT DOWN.
Trust me on this, I learnt the hard way (eyes go to where Gary and Andy are sitting). Don't run without walking. Just because you built a sumobot, doesn't mean you can go to a bar spinner straight away. You could start out with one Jonno's ratz, or something similar.
A very good kit, and will definitely help you.
You need to figure out the gear ratio, the armour, the chassis, the drive, the wheels and how the disc is going to be made.

Re: New FW
hey, its good to see you want to build a spinner, but realistically its far harder to do than build a rambot or a robot with a lifter for example, when i first started i made a 2 wheel drive robot with an electric lifter and due to my in-experience the weapon broke before i even got chance to use it lol
after building a few robots i made a spinner my self- still havnt had chance to use it yet and its been built since september. and i had to get alot of help off people about how to go about building a robot with a spinning weapon because i didnt have a clue.
its alright you saying theres too many boxes about but they are a good place to start off for beginners as you can get to grips with how to get a nice drivable and reliable robot and dont have to worry about any weapons straight away
