  • Electric window motor???

Well, recently, the electric windows on our Nissan Terrano have started packing up. So, in an attempt to save some dosh, my dad decided to see if he could find the problem (these things are massively over-designed, it's madness). Sadly, it looks like all the effort was in vain.

    ANYWAY

We are looking to build a basic platform (featherweight kinda' style) to practice before we start to build something to destroy. And I spotted the motors, they seemed mayble a little small, but they come with a tough L shaped gearing system that just yelled use me in a robot.

Has anyone ever used electric window motors?

    (by the way):

    Thanks,
    Ellis

    Re: Electric window motor???

They've been used quite a bit in robots of various sizes, windscreen wiper motors are similar and were once ubiquitous in featherweights about six years ago.

They'll probably be a bit slow but they're more than suitable for getting a robot moving, if they're available I'd use them

Windscreen wiper motors are much bigger though, right?

And do you have any kind of idea if the power to weight ratio is good with these things? I've no real idea, I just need some more experience with general stuff

if they have a serial number on them you might be lucky and be able to find their spec by typing it into google.
