Nice. Only problem is can anyone tell me why these YouTube vids don't work in IE 64-bit.

        Simply Mark - no

do they work direct from you tube? maybe a forum issue, Kane?

That is serious cool Alex, I love it (unlike the sandals in clip 2! Ha ha). Can't wait to see it fighting.

            Re: Donner lifter tests

Looks like its Flash Player not compatabie with IE 64-bit. Looks Like I'll just have to use the 32-bit version, can't see any differances anyway (other than it works!)

Thanks Dave. The sandals were the first form of footware which came to hand

                Nice work there Alex.

Is it a drill motor powering the lifter through a car scissor jack?

                  Re: Donner lifter tests

Nope. I used a commercially available linear actuator with a linkage system made from four pieces of steel box section.

Looks really good Alex, what weight can it lift?

                      Re: Donner lifter tests

                      I'm not exactly sure...
It's rated at around 30kg, but it is the same as the actuator in Mr Happy, which managed to lift a HW.

                          Re: Donner lifter tests

Nice new 'bot you have there...! Powerful lifter indeed. Not something we're used to now really... favor definitely seems to be in flippers, but great to see something as refreshing as a powerful and very big lifter!!

I'd have to put it out there to you though... can it self-right? Considered exposing the tyres on top 'cos I think this one would work well as invertible machine wouldn't it!

                            Re: Donner lifter tests

                            Jack,
The lifter mech is based on levers (it's the same as Maelstrom's flipper mech). The actuator pushes the levers forwards and they in turn push the two lifting plates apart. I will post a diagram once I have drawn one. If you are interested, I may part with Donner, as I have another project underway now. PM me if you are interested.

                            Luke,
The videos show the robot without the wheels attached. The wheels attach on the outside of the robot and are huge. Donner was designed to be a mini Maelstrom.

                              Haha I should've known...

I think that's fair enough. All issues ironed out, good luck it looks like a good bit of 'bot.

I never saw the Maelstorm thing coming
