  • Will this be enough.........

    Hey,

I dont really want to order a speed controller from america (like the sabertooth 25A) and it is also an inordinate price. I have been looking at a 20A speedo from technobots, but was worried that 20A wouldnt be enough to handle my two drill motors and battery packs. Will 20A be enough? The batteries are overlander 12v and they put out 40A peak. The drills are 12v Bosch, 1200rpm with built in battery packs. Will the speedo be able to take those specs?

    Thanks,

    Alex

Hi, You dont say what speedo you are looking at, I use a Sabertooth 10A, 9.6 V drill motors running on 14.4V, seems OK,ie hasent blown yet.

Cant you get the sabertooth 25s through Technobots as well, or have they stopped doing those?

Thats reassuring (kind of). Its an, well read this:

        50V 20A H Bridge Speedo - Part No: 1502-010
        Shipping Weight 0.130 Kg

The MD03 is a medium power motor driver, designed to supply power beyond that of any of the low power single chip H-Bridges that exist. Main features are ease of use and flexibility. The motors power is controlled by Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) of the H-Bridge at a frequency of 7.8KHz.
The 15v MOSFET drive voltage is generated onboard with a charge pump, so the module requires only two supply voltages.

        Its £50.00 so ok value.

        Thanks,

        Alex

          Hi Alex

That one only controlls one motor, you would need two of them, Sabertooth still a better buy.

            scorpions area a good investment.
I know ordering and repairing them is a pain but they are a nice controller.

If not then electronize. Heavier but repairable in the uk and usually people have some spare.

Asking if 20amps is enough for two drill motors. I would say try and get 30 to be safe. I have had drill motors jam from a big little flipper flip. Having one stalled motor can really put strain on the speedo.

O.K Cheers. Is there anywhere I can but XXLs off the internet. I was in talks with a guy who conveted XLs into XXLs. Will he be my best bet?. And are electrolizes and XXLs capable of controlling my drill motors and peak 40A from batteries?

              Thanks,

              Alex

Alex, maybe we should talk on MSN. It would be easier than just posting back and forwards.
