Hi Everyone
With lots of help from Clive Brown and Pete Lale we are about to become roboteers, we have been coming as paying public to many events over the past 2 years and thought it would be more fun to join in.
We have thought about names and need to check some ideas with you all, dont want to steal someone name.
The name we are thinking of is Little Devil.
Does anyone use this name already?

I dont know anyone using that name in the past, and no one uses it on our system at the moment, so go for it.

Also in Holland and Belgium no robot with that name. I dont recall a Little Devil with our German neighbors either. Id say go for it.

Little Devil it is.
My son still does not know that we have managed to get him a robot so it is all top secret in our house.
Cant wait to see his face when we attend our first get together although I am fairly confident that he will just want to watch the battles and will end up leaving the driving to me. A learner female robot driver, be afraid, be very afraid.

Owen wore his Tiny Toon t-shirt to school yesterday and was showing them the Roaming Robots website and explaining about all the people he knew, He is such a name dropper!!!
How is the build going???? Have you got over the mud yet!!!
Next job, need to join FRA and sign up for a few battles.

Since you will be your own team Debbie, you may as well think of a team name and sign up to the Roaming Robots database an then add your robot to the system then we can sign you up to the up coming events officaly. We know your coming - but the web site and the system dont hehe. Sign ups open in about 10 days time.

Get clive to introduce me to you, didnt get chance to say hello to the picknicers.

Tell you what Debbie, if you get yourself a few servos and get Clive to mod them for 360degree operation, stick some jam jar lids on (or god forbid buy some wheels!) and four aa batteries with a holder from maplins you can put them between a carboard body and then practice driving.

That was the first robot i built for Luke and its been rebuilt in many many different ways by him and gets driven regularly even now. We used a 9v battery at first which lasted a while but it tends to blow the receiver after a while.

If you can get it set up on single stick steering even better.

You can build a small assault course for it and all sorts of stuff. You really dont need to running the bigger robot all the time and it needs no space at all so it get used more.

You can always swap the receiver between the two as well.
