  • Third channel on RS80D controller

    Hi all

i bought the RS80D controller from the states for my new crusher it has channels and i can use it for other stuff that why i got it

anyway the third channel i was planning to use for the wepon controller but with conversations with GRant it doesnt seem possible can anyone see a way to do it?

a link to the site with specs

    thanks alex

btw i have e-mailed them but they dont seem to be very helpful

It depends on how you want to use it. You could cascade that third channel with a bigger relay for instance and have that power the crusher. I wouldnt try to run the crusher straight from that third channel.

btw, I think the RS80D is a nice controller. If I hadnt bought the Sidewinder first I probably would have went for that one.

As said, its easy enough to ad relays from that but with it only being a 2 position switcher as far as I can see you can only have up/down with microswitches at the end with no stop in the centre

          Third channel on RS80D controller

          copy & paste of manual.

          Normal PWM
This mode is straight R/C pulse to PWM with dead-band, variable brake and variable
acceleration support. Note: Exponential curve does not apply to the Auxiliary channel.

          Spin Controller
Auxiliary spin control, selected with Mode Switch A1 in the ON position, modifies the
standard forward/reverse PWM mode for unidirectional operation and variable brake.
Forward stick gives 0-100% forward powers while reverse stick gives 0-100% braking.
Furthermore, with loss signal (broken cable, dead radio, dead transmitter) full braking is
applied at once. Spin control uses the AUX ACCEL control input, but does not use the
          BRAKE input.

          Relay controller
Auxiliary relay control, selected with Mode Switch A0 and A1 in the OFF position, drives
the AUX controller as a bi-directional relay with Limit switch support. This can be used
for non-servo lifter systems. The operation is as follows:
          Stick neutral Coast
          Stick ½ forward 100% forward
          Stick ½ reverse 100% reverse
          Loss of signal 100% brake

So ...it seems to me that you can use the third RS80D output to control ...via the PWM signal... an ESC ...or Relays.

If its a 3 position then it will work fine - I must have missed that part!

              Third channel on RS80D controller

Now that i have the third channel situation sorted now i need the realys in order to control the linear actuator, i am unsure on this topic so any advice would be great ie

              what sort?
              any specs?
              where to buy?

By the way i have tried to search my self but i am unsure what to get

              Thanks Alex

...Those questions first require an answer to this question.

What load / motor are you going to have?

                  Third channel on RS80D controller

Well the linear actuator i will be using is the Duff Norton Minipac which is a 12volt motor but i will run near 24v

                  stalled on max load.
                  7.2v - 12.5A
                  14.4v - 25A
                  21.6v - 38A

if you need any other info please ask

                  thanks for the help

A pair of relays from technobots should be fine.

Are these the same relays as on the electronizes?
They do not have a center off setting do they?

They dont have a center off ( Neutral ) as in three seperate postions ON Neutral OFF ...No.
Do you know of any that do Leo?
