Ive had two working in an experimental dual drive gearbox and it is possible to push them to 24v, but be careful with the heat ive always found them to still get fairly hot with a computer fan on. But ide recommend running them at a safer voltage which is what I am now doing with them for tests. (I wasnt aware that you had them Stu !!)
Also ive ordered some HTI Replacement motors and going to try them out, only a couple of $s more but a slight increase in HP output and also able to take 24v. Only downside is at 12v there is a slight drop in rpm compared to the Mini Ev at 12v. So might be worth a look.
The 300psi motors we have found in Australia are basic mini EV clones, weve run them on 24v and they seem to take it quite well. Just as long as you have around 10:1 gearing per 12v them seem to be happy. Thes one we have do around the 12000rpm mark on 12v. I experimentally ran one on 36v survived no load, but ejected a bit of resin from the armature at the 30000rpm+ speeds. The motor still works and doesnt seem to be unbalanced, but I dont think they will last with a load on 36v
I asked HTI motor pinion gear measurements, it has 9 teeth, 42 pitch diameter (whatever does it mean) and the OD is .38
bad luck, pinion gear of 550rpm drills that i have is 9 teeth and 8mm od, at least HTI motor shaft is 3.175mm, should be perfect to replace drill motors.
Dont know if you have read this already but after skimming over the Mini EV Overvoltage topic on the US Robot Fighting League forum it confirms that Mini EVs dont like being overvolted and at 18v you would be pushing it because a hard impact at that voltage will break the brush holders on the motors unless they are well supported.
Also you might want to read up on the Mini-Walt its a Mini Ev combined with a 18v DeWalt drill transmission making a combo more faster, smoother and cooler drive with neutral timed and more torque compared to the 18v DeWalts running on 24v . The page also provides some good insight and modifications to improve the Mini Ev motor.
Hi, just fount some wheels from Clas Ohlson and i think that those could be screwed straight to drill shaft like the red wheels

James Cooper sells some very grippy blue wheels, and modifys them to screw straight onto drills. Many roboteers have had these made for them and not a single one has been unhappy with their performance. these wheels are used by ploughbot, venom, micro-maul, razer, warhead and many more.

JH-Q ...... I bought some of those wheels from Clas ohlson in Sweden when I visited their store in Insjon earlier this year. They will fit straight on to your drill motor gearboxes. They are very grippy too.
Im using the blue wheels on my new feather, 6 of them,Might actually finish this robot lol.
Does anybody know if I can buy some longer left hand threaded bolts to fit my drill output shaft? Or am I going to need to mod the bolts I have? (cut and weld abit in) Thanks.
