  • My robot safety?

    Hi!

I am finnis roboteer and i am coming to em competition. I have just a few questions about FRA rules.

Is victor powerlight enough or is there need for separate powerlight? Here is pic: http://www.kolumbus.fi/rex/victor%20power%20light.JPGhttp://www.kolumbus.fi/rex/victor%20power%20light.JPG

Dump valve and main power link ok? http://www.kolumbus.fi/rex/Virtakytkin.JPGhttp://www.kolumbus.fi/rex/Virtakytkin.JPG

Lithium polymer battery one 3200mah 3S and one 350mah 3S for voltage lift for solenoid. There is 50A fuse for 3200mah drive battery and 5A fuse for smal battery. (5A fuse not viseble in pic) http://www.kolumbus.fi/rex/Sulake.JPGhttp://www.kolumbus.fi/rex/Sulake.JPG

I like to check my robot before i fly to Britain. So i will have no problems with safety check.

Sorry my bad english i still use this translation site. http://efe.scape.net/http://efe.scape.net/

    My robot safety?

The powerlight is ok. (according to me that is)

Dump valve and link could better be out of line of fire of the weapon.

LiPos. Im not sure the voltage boosting with the small pack is a good idea.

      My robot safety?

Voltage boosting with the small pack is a only idea for now. I have voltage buuster but it burn out. And i can get new one in a week. And small pack have it own fuse.

There is my fingers on risk with dump valve and powe link. Is it problem? Flipper arm is lock to frame (rules), so it can fire on my fingers, or can it?

I have get on fingers a few times of smaller flip and i know that hurt a lot!

        Otto... Yes possible problem.
You arm the robot... but dont disarm it at the end of a fight.... the arena crew do that.

And what is the point of this? Is it more safety that person who have build and design the robot disarm it?

All what it need is step on tip of the flipper and open dump valve. It is low pressure system and there is no enough forse to lift person.

I hope that it will be ok, fly there to get disqualified of competition is not option.

            My robot safety?

At Robots Live events the roboteer will always arm their robot, roboteers will disarm if safe to do so, if not the arena marshall will do it for example; if its in the pit, out the arena or immobile in the middle of the arena. We agree that it is better for the roboteer to disarm their machine as they know it better than anybody.

I would suggest that the dump and link are moved away from moving parts, ideally next to your bottle valve. I dont see a problem with the power lights.

Well that is stupit stupid place for link and dump valve. But there is no time to rebuild half electric and pneumatic system. I leave it and if it get disqualified at least i save my bot to nex competition here in Finland.

                Otto,

I am not wanting to throw a spanner in the works here but im not sure that your use of the victors LED will be sufficient.

The victor that I use flashes on and off an orange signal if no proper signal is received from the receiver. This would not do for a power indicator as a power indicator cannot flash.

It shouldnt be too hard to quickly wire in an LED to fix the problem (I have done it the night before a competition a few times!).

You are best contacting the event organisers directly with your concerns as they will be able to give you a yes or no.

Seemed to be safe enough at the Eurochamps - a very effective flipping machine and very nippy about the arena too
