  • Lots of questions

    hi all

1.At colchester my dad ran b.o.w on a Am transmitter channel 50, can anyone tell me why this was changed to channel 665?

2.I may be thinking of changing chargers, so could anyone recommend one?

3.I am most definitely thinking of changing my conectors, at the moment i use the spade ones and the the other end which goes over it. and also my batteries the clips. alot of robots seem to have the ball ones can these be soldered? and can the be put on chargers and Nicad packs?

any advice would be great if you can make sense of my post

    thanks alex

    Lots of questions

    1. channel 665 means 40.665 MHz, that is its frequency. 50 is just a crystal number, not a real channel or frequency. These numbers are sometimes different as well depending on the country they are bought.

    2. It all depends on budget, battery type, voltage, and the amount of amps you want to charge with. I am quite fond of my T2M Swallow AC/DC 2, its cheap, can charge up to 14 cells Nicad/NiMh and 5 cells Lipo at 5A max charge, and 1A max discharge. It has a 230V and 12V attachment, so you dont need a seperate power supply or car battery for it. Not bad for 65 pounds.

For larger charge rates look at the Pro-Peak Constellation or Mercury. Or at Triton chargers.

    3. For contacts Id use RC 4mm gold connectors ( http://www.modelhelicopters.co.uk/acatalog/RB4049.jpghttp://www.modelhelicopters.co.uk/acatalog/RB4049.jpg ), or Deans Ultra ( http://www.siriuselectronics.com/images/Deans%20Ultra.jpghttp://www.siriuselectronics.com/ima...ns%20Ultra.jpg ). You should be able to find them at any good RC shop. These are both lightweight and can handle a lot of current.

          Click on the Select Channel/Frequency
to see the various numbers..... as Leo pointed out a Channel 50 crystal will have 40.665 written on it or just the 665.

Pro peaks are good chargers, but remember that they dont just plug into the wall. You will need a 12v power supply to power it (an old PC power supply works fine)
