Drill chuck removal

I know that the chuck is normally removed by turning counter clockwise after removing the reverse thread screw but can anybody confirm that this is the case for a B&Q powerplus drill as the one I have will not budge. Any idea as to how to remove a stubborn chuck? Help!!!!

Another option is to make sure the drills got a good bit of charge in it, set it in reverse, firmly grip the chuck (as in really firmly) and fire the drill up in reverse. Hopefully the chuck thread should loosen and unscrew before you twist your arms up

Stick a screwdriver/small long metal thing into the fan blades at the rear of the motor (make sure youve got enough purchase that theyre unlikely to snap) clamp the body of the gearbox and then try to unscrew the chuck by hand. If that doesnt work get a hammer and tap the edge of the chuck (the un-rotating bit) that you would turn towards if you were doing it by hand - this sudden impact turning force can help loosen the chuck, or at least has on the many drills Ive played around with in my time If this still doesnt work (bearing in mind youve reached the whack the side if the chuck as hard as humanly possible stage) then out comes the angle grinder

With screw removed insert short end of biggest allen key you have into chuck and tighten. Whack allen key with rubber mallet anti clockwise.

Or a steel hammer ....or simply run the drill in reverse and let the long end of the Allen key strike your work bench.

I got bored with mine, took as much off with the grinder as possible and then took a hacksaw and cut along the axle. So both sides fell off and I was left with an axle with a small slit in either side.
