do you mean 6 in each robot?, i mean if your still on about your clusterbot idea i dont really see the point in 6 i would say 4 max
i have got a really fast setup at the moment, 18volt drills running on 24ish volts NiMh 3200 mah i think, but if you used 9.6 just halve it

and you only need one speedo per side, so just two per robot depending on what speedos though

                What is more powerful - 6 14.4v drills or 4 150w golds?

If golds are best, can anyone suggest the gearing that would be best?

Can 2 25amp sonik marine speedos power 4 golds?

What batts would be best for golds?

These questions are not about a clusterbot, they are about my ideas-im comparing them to see which will work best.

                Dan.

                  12v golds by the way.

For the golds, it depends on what voltage you ae running on. 12V golds on 12V are about the same speed as 24V on 24V give or take. DB5 runs them on about 9:1. Stiff Breeze runs the 12V on 12V and is about the same reduction maybe 7:1 ish, dont know exactly what the ratio is, but this is a guess from looking.

But I would say that 6 drill are more powerful but less reliable. Most people burnout or damage a gearbox every few events at least, so if you have 6 motors then you are gonna be buying a few spares. The motors and gears that I have in DB5 have been in it for 3 years, the gears are slightly worn but still not slipping. The motors have lost some power for sure but as I said they are old.

I dont believe that 2 25amp sonik speedos will handle 4 golds, in theory if that 25 amp is a continuous current rating they should. But I wouldnt bet on them. 24V Golds draw less than 7amps each, but the 12Vs will draw 12.5amps so you will be on the limit with the 12V version.

So I would recommend the golds (24V) but thats what Ive used for years.

I recommend the 24v golds as well, i ran them in Alpha for years, now theyre running in Omega, great motors for the price. Ive always ran on the Electronize 15Amp CPU controllers.

                        Would these be good for 6 x drill motors(12 - 14.4v)/4 x golds?(24v)

I think, that the max discharge Rate is to low.

I youse Sony RC 2400 (nicd)
                          and Sony SCR 3300 (nimh)
Discharge Rate up to 60 Amp is not a problem.
