i was planning on having 2 7,2volt packs, or would one bigger voltage pack be best?

        more volts = faster speed
If you double the voltage you double the r.p.m. , double the amps and quadruple the power ( watts )

The downside as can be seen from above....it pulls more amps and puts the motor under extra strain.

BTW ...I was suggesting 2 off 8.4 volt packs ...giving you 16.8 volts.
Itll be a little quicker than running on 14.4volts.

Electronize will happily handle 24v and the drills should be able to take an extra 4 to 5 volts. I would only get worried if you pumped up the voltage to 24v. This would get a bit risky with drill motors.

ive onl experienced nicad, i think for 16.8 you would have to have to use 2x 8.4 v packs which i dontt know if they do, or build them your self. personally id get x2 7.4v packs off ebay

Alex, as standard they make 8.4v packs, get 2 of these and wire them up as one pack (in series) and use it as one pack as i used to do. And for waht you use/need, use NIMH.
