It is worth mentioning that another reason for Razers wheel design was to get over ramps - The crusher would come down, pushing the lever for the 5th wheel to the floor. Leaving Razer with a high ground clearance and the rear wheels to power it forward.

Built a test bed for the claw to get all the measurments for the pivot points before I start to cut the Ali for the base. The base will have 2 groves cut the full length of the base the uprights will be bolted and then welded into the groves hopefully this will stop the base from bending. Pics and vid of test bed on http://www.teamdragon.org.ukwww.teamdragon.org.uk

Ummmm ...Tony ...Arent you supposed to push the load with the actuator .....not pull?

I thought actuators were made with a compressive force in mind ....rather than tension.

The statement ....same power in either direction ! .....doesnt help much..... are you saying that this actuator is designed for both compressive and tensile forces?

If that is so ...then it doesnt matter.

Looking lethal Tony - seeing the CADs and the vid has re-ignited my urge to get building with my feather crusher. (prototype pic on profile) Wont quite be matching the power of yours, the actuators only rated at 4000N but hopefully itll be enough to cause some people problems. Came up with the concept design etc back in October 2005, but itll be spring 2008 before its completed - it better be worth the wait!

Looking forward to seeing Dragons Claw finished
