Thats the flywheel made out of? Just looking at the size of the teeth, I was more be worried about them breaking off... But of course, you dont need big teeth like these http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v357/Cobrarobotics/Raiden/DSC03603.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/DSC03603.jpg but something that is built strong and has plenty of material backing the impact point, like this http://buildersdb.com/botpics/906.jpghttp://buildersdb.com/botpics/906.jpg

its a solid one piece hardox 650 disc 8mm thick. The teeth are 2cm in width and have 2cm in material attaching them to the disc. I will see how they handle impacts during testing. I can always weld some small hardox plates behind them.

actually after a bit of thought I may get JL steel services to make me a new disc when I get them to make the forks for my new heavyweight. A solid support at the back of the teeth and far more of the weight at the edge of the ring. Not quite so artistic but more effective

looks good, what voltage is that on? 12v? no way a scooter motor powered anything should be that slow on 24v

will have to finish up that lightweight ive been doing for a while. two of the 300w size motors (next step up from those) at 36v powering a 6kg block splitter. first test i sure as heck new the colour of fear

They are on 24v but they are old batterys putting some new ones in today. Also was not pushing the speed controler too much as it is only rated at 15amp.

Got a hell of a lot done at the weekend. Latest pic of hornet 2 on profile. Only got to mount magmotor, mount drills at the back and sort out the pulleys between the mag and disc.

Just out of curiosity, what is the leeway on the weight limit at events? I am sure I can remember a figure of 5% but I want to make sure as I have a feeling i will be close to the 13kg mark. I will probably have to replace the polycarb on the front and machine some holes in the disc supports.

It is 2%, meaning you have 12 kg 250 grams on the scales.

Things to save weight on: size, armored air, the disk supports and a lot on batteries (if you want to use a mag S28-400 youll want to feed at least 18V)

Go for polypro over polycarb on the front and mill out the disc supports a little. No wheel protection?
