Quick update, lots of parts arrived this week! I test fitted the Hardox weapon bar mounts this weekend with M8 screws. The weapon bar goes through the HDPE and has a metal end stop on the base of the robot. Nat's motor mounts are also fitted, and the next challenge is getting all the electronics and wiring to fit in the remaining space!

Looks good so far. Fitting the batteries and electronics shouldn't be too hard from what I can see.

Update for this week, I've completed the cutting of most of the HDPE pieces now, still using the wooden base for test driving ready for the new transmitter to arrive. I've also added grub screws to the gearboxes to complete those modifications. More videos have been added to my YouTube channel

So I've been busy on the robot, it's now pretty much competition ready, just gotta tidy up my weight saving cuts. It's just about on the limit now. I gave it a quick drive with the brushless motor disconnected.

Looks good, well done. How heavy are we talking with this?

EDIT: I cannot read - I see it is just on the limit! :P So how does it drive with the weapon in place (obviously disconnected)? Not too front heavy I guess?

It runs pretty smoothly! Took my caster wheel from my other featherweight and added it as close to the front as possible.

So a quick update, I competed in the September Robodojo with Gunblade, the video of which is on Joe Brown's YouTube channel. The main takeaway from that was my method of clamping in the weapon shaft was not strong enough for a FW spinner environment. For Gunblade 1.5, the main upgrades are a shoulder bolt for the weapon shaft and changing the shape of the top panel. I've also upgraded to a Redbrick 200A ESC. Should be ready for early next year!
