  • BOB BW Series

Well I think it's time to give BW a try.
The plan for this one is going to be a 2WD lifter that way that if its gets flipped over it'll be able srimech and flip others over.
I pick out some of the parts for it
    Motor

    Servo

Quick question would a 2 or a 3 cell battery go well for a BW?

I use a 3S LiFePO4 battery in my beetleweight and I am fairly sure others do use 3S LiPo batteries in theirs.

I've actually just ordered a load of Beetle parts, I've gone for 3s LiPo myself, should be loads of power, although i'm looing at bigger a bigger servo, maybe I'm going overkill?

Here's something I forgot the ESC, will I get away with using Botbitz 30a or will I have lower powered ones?

Well, I took BOB to Robodojo, it had one hit from a spinner and the esc in it died. No more sabertooth esc, also this is the only damage done to its body.
          20180918_201033.jpg

The cause of death, part of the exposed wires where it goes in to the esc touched each other when that spinner hit it.

To do list for next time.
          Better esc
          Thinner wires
Make the body about 2cm longer, the battey almost didn't fit.

Don't be too disappointed Sean-That beetle you fought was a real monster
considering it's size, we saw it earlier taking on a featherweight in a bit of
a play battle but holding it's own.
Adam uses ESCs at £5 a pop and they seem well up to the task.

              Hi Sean,
I've fitted a couple of these to my BW, seem to work really well. You can find them on Ebay for around £10ea, shipped in UK.

These are XT-XINTEs, they look super cheap, and they cost super cheap, but they do work, and they're cheap enough its not a huge issue if they do go. This is what Hyperion was running at Robodojo in the final fight at the end. They're also very small, and both of them survived the huge hit at the end of that fight.

https://www.xt-xinte.com/RC-10A-Brus...k-p134477.html - they each control one motor, so you'd need 2 for two wheel drive. Despite their voltage, they work well at 3S & 4S. At Robodojo it was running 3s, which is why it was a bit sluggish, since then i've thrown a 4s battery in there, and its a lot more manoeuvrable, and the cheap ESCs are still handling it, though they do get a bit warmer. I've looked at the link you posted to the motors, and they seem to be well within the 10A for the cheaper ESCs.

Do you have any pictures from those "Monster" BW you had to face?

This is robot BW I faced, it's a mini PP3D.

My robot wasn't in this one, I'm not sure if any one recorded that one.

There's plenty of force in it too, this is what it did to 1.8mm titanium, and underneath it is 10mm aluminium

Been working on BOB2 to take on Robonerd and to use if there's a season 3 Bugglebots.
BOB2 is what the FW BOB4 going to be with the axe and other things.
Got it all wired up ready to test the weapon, fuse blown no problem got one with a higher amp, tried again and now this.

I know there's a hobby shop next to my old job where I get a new motor. If I can't get one it'll have to go in weapon less on Saturday.

You could probably straighten that shaft with a panel pin hammer and the flat anvil bit on your vice

but is does require a steady hand

                            Overdue update.
Renamed BOB 2 to Little BOB so we know which BW, FW I'm talking about.

For those who have seen the Robodojo live stream. It didn't drive well, a button head screw at the back helped but I'm not getting much power into the wheels. When I checked what RPM my motors have because I forgot what it had, it said 1000RPM I wonder if went for speed over power.

Next is the weapon, the belt was too lose simple as that and the funny thing on the earlier build was too tight.

Also, Little BOB was a bit overweight.

                            To-do list.
                            Go from 2WD to 4WD
                            Make it liter
Get the weapon to work right
If needed new motors with lower speed.
