I urge you to be VERY careful with the spinner. Spinners, along with flippers, are the two easiest ways to kill or injure yourself or someone else. Spinners can project high velocity chunks of metal for surprising distances. When testing it's important to ensure that nothing can escape the test area and that you are protected if something fails

If you are planning to use the 2 halfs of the pneumatic tank as your spinner, as you have on your Facebook page, then I will be running the other way as fast as I can.

Sorry for being blunt but this is not just unsafe but downright dangerous. There is no way you would ever pass a tech check let alone be allowed to spin it up.
While its great to be using things you already have and was very much in the spirit of the original robots on the show, this just isn't safe. At all.Last edited by Eventorizon; 10 July 2016, 20:37.

The other problem is you're putting all your eggs in the being accepted into RW basket. Season 2 applications will be hugely competitive and the chances of getting on for most teams won't be great. It's simply a matter of numbers. You're likely to end up with a heavy you'll not be able to run.

Building a HW spinner for a first bot goes against common sense. As does 2 halves of a pneumatic cylinder welded together to make a disc.

A good weld is stronger than the base material.
But it still is a connection, and you need to balance the whole too. Welds and balancing are not easy.
Not something done by a gardenshed builder with a drill , anglegrinder and a MIG.
Talking to a guy on the RW8 filming doesn't make you an expert either, nor does the fact somebody is working for a TV company makes that person an expert on anything related to robots.
I was there during series 5-6 and 7.
Most Tech-checkers and technical advisors were competent people. But anybody on the filming or catering crew, not so.
*wanna go into a bragging fight about pro-welding?
