  • bonecrusher- the first bw from Suvv Industries Robotics devision

i figured now that i have ordered some essential parts like the motors and other few bits i should do the fashionable thing and start a build diary so without further ado...

    it begins!!!!!

the design is very simple as its my first one but will hopefully prove effective,6wd pusher though i prefer "full body hammer"
so far my doodles are looking very effective when i get a design on computer that looks like i want it too i will get it up on this so that people can laugh/cry/question what im doing.

im optimistic that if i get all the bits together i can get it down to an event sometime and issue some hurt on people and if this all works i will dive head first into a fw

next thing i should be posting up will be the cardboard mock up i will be making at the weekend

      prototype :cardbot!!

not that i have the majority of the bigger components and i will get the speed controllers once i have money again i decided to build my first prototype to get an idea of size and what space i will have etc 2 things that i have discovered are:

1: the battery i got is a little bigger than it looks sat on my desk

2:if i want to have the modular weapons system of interchangeable types of scoop/battering ram i may have to tweak the mounting system as i don't think 4 bolts will be as strong as i hoped

need to get more wire and hopefully will be able to order the esc's soon along with the hdpe sheets so as i can start to create the beast for real

i will point out the pink duck tape will not be used as much on the final bot....hopefully

Battery is way to big, you can drop that down to a 800mAh with no issues at all. I know this cos that is the battery I fight got for Anvil.
Aside from that, it looks good. Are you going for all wheel drive with 6 motors or are those middle wheels going to just be free spinning?

yer i didnt realise the dimensions of the battery untill i actually started to do the mock up sounds sill but noob mistake also im compensating slightly for the lack of proper weapon, it will be 6 wheel drive as im going for the full body hammer style bot if i could get the mechanics to work at the scale id so a miniature replica of storm 2 as its my alltime favourite but im neither skilled nor equiped tobuild somthing like that just yet mabey a few bots down the line

This will be really good. Are you sticking with the 6x6 or going to move to 4x4? I also bought a massive battery but it'll be fine lol I only have 2wd.

6wd mate i havent the skill to build a good active weapon yet so im following team storms mantra and making the whole bot the weapon

yup im bracing myself to be closer to the weight limit than i would like but the battery and motors together comes to 713 grams so im only half way and the rest is either plastic or neoprene and i allways have the option to drop battery size if it is an issue

That's cool. I ummed and arred about something similar to yours using less wheels but got panicky about spinners chewing the wheels off.

ok so i started soldering various bits together namely the removable link and suddenly realized i wasn't sure how long the motor wires would need to be so i stuck with making the little section that connects the removable link to the battery and in other fun news my lipo charger that i have only does 1-3 cell lipos...great goodbye more money (incidentally everyone needs to go to ranglebox and get some of the m4 nutstrips they weigh next to nothing and are beautifully made even if you don't need one they will make a nice decorative feature)

also today the mounting bolts for the motors arrived if your new like me and didnt know its a 3mm bolt that the 1000rpm gear motors from ebay take
                          these ones :http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3307516820...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
                          take these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1607928107...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

i know loads of people probs know that but incase any newbies read this in the future and another tip for those that are new weigh stuff yourself dont rely on the weights given by the website my battery is a good 20g lighter than stated on the hobbyking page for it duno why but it could be the little bit of weight i need for extra armour
