  • Shiny newness next to busted oldness.

Spin up while in the robot. Bad noise I think is due to lack of lube. 3s just to make double super safety sure it wasn't going to explode. Also belt tension is a bit loose. Meh. fixable.

    • That's a massive upgrade from last year, looking forward to seeing it in action!

          • Looks deadly! Are you going to make some kind of cover for that link? I'd be worried about axes or flying robots knocking it out/ bending it.

            • Yeah it has a hollow tube that it sits in for a bit more protection.

With the robot totally complete it measures 13.1kg on my scales. I want to go for side guards but don't want to push my luck. No idea how accurate or reliable this scale is.

Got to tidy up and secure all the wiring but at this stage there isn't much more I can do.

              • Assuming those scales are accurate I think you've got enough weight for wheel guards, 500g get you a piece of 15mm HDPE 60*600mm which I imagine is just about enough to make basic guards against horizontal spinners. You can always take them off at the champs if they push you over the weight limit.

                • That's too large of an assumption for me to really be comfortable with. I've got a piece of 2mm Ti that would be better for the Nick -style wheel guards. But then the mounts and the bolts add some weight there. I can pocket out some of the panels some more although I don''t really care too.

                  Hmmmm

                  • Well, Massacre is 99% done. The spare spare belts are on their way and fingers crossed I get them before I leave. Banged out a cradle for it to sit on and got all the sharp edge protection/locking clamps on.

Having a bit of mixer trouble though, its one of the GWS gold ones that failsafes. It doesn't let the robot turn. Whichever direction I move the stick it only goes forwards and backwards, which as you can imagine is not what you want when trying to turn. Any ideas on what to do, or does anyone have a spare?

                    Thank you.

                    • Sounds obvious but are you sure steering channel is plugged into the receiver correctly or that there isn't a break in in of the wires? You could try plugging the steering channel into another channel eg. Rudder or throttle to see if it works? Do you have mixing turned on on the transmitter.

                      • Yeah I've got mixing off. Turned it on to see if would somehow help, ofc it didn't so I turned it back off.

EDIT: steering works on rud, cheers bud.

                        • Are you using dx6i? Why not just use the built in mixing with the dual rates set so you get 100% throws?

                          • DX5e peasant here.

Also now mixes but don't failsafe any more. Just rebound it with the new set up and no joy.

                            • I have some spare spektrum receivers you could borrow which may help remove some of your issues.
