Just a quick question, i'll be using a relay to control the weapon of Wraith (IG 88 style spinner) i'm a little bit stuck on how to wire it though. I've got one of those Turnigy on/off switch things and an 80a automotive relay, any help would be fantastic.

Cheers Andy, Hatchet 2 *should* be a massive improvement ( not hard ) over the first, what i will say is that the axe will be roughly the same size/weight but will be run on a 350w motor (up from 300) a bigger reduction and at 6s.

I look forward to seeing what you do with the new hatchet and seeing how the beetle performs, from what you said on earlier posts it should be pretty nasty :P

Right just to keep people posted and so i have a record to keep track of i'm going to post up a few details of all my robot projects that will be happening over the rest of the year.

    So here it goes..

Hatchet - Buying the old girl back some time soon and making a few more modifications, namely a new scooter motor, upgrade from a 4 to 5s Lipo and possibly a reduction change on the axe. Going to be using it as my running feather for events until i get around to building Hatchet 2 at which point Hatchet will become a Whiteboard machine.

Hatchet 2 - Putting a lot of thought and design time into this to make sure it's as good as can be, will be built towards the end of the year/beginning of next year. Changing just about everything to make it stronger, more reliable and crucially more powerful, I won't give away too much as the specs have changed from when i last posted about it but i assure you all it will be a MUCH better machine.

Lynx - My beetle i'll be bringing to Brize Norton, basically a Hazard style overhead spinner with a stupidly big blade powered by an even more stupid Brushless at a stupidly over the top 4s. Will be starting this early next month so keep your eyes peeled for updates!.

Buzz - Antweight bar spinner, basically a teeny tiny buzzbar with a 2mm stainless steel blade. Hopefully i can get it together for AWS but building it and the beetle side by side might be a bit ambitious in the time frame. If not there are always more Ant events and if it comes down to it i would choose to focus on the Beetle.

Wraith - Something a bit different this one, after finding the motor/gearbox combo i posted a couple of days ago on my doorstep i decided i really wanted to use it in something. Well after thinking about it i've come up with Wraith, basically i'm going for a Featherweight version of IG-88 from Robot wars. The robot itself will be pretty old school, i'll be using drill motors, servo switch esc's for the drive and a relay for the weapon, the chassis will be a mix of Hdpe, Nylon and Aluminium and the bar will be a whacking great lump of stainless ( 250mm long, roughly 25mm thick!). For testing purposes it will be run on 5s but for full combat fights i'll run it at 6s and see how that works, won't be all that damaging or high tech but i quite like the idea of making a simple, cheap spinner just to show that it can be done.

@Jamie, sorry about that mate i hope it turns up soon, i'm happy to reimburse though if it doesn't.

@David, The 850 motor i have there is quite a bit smaller than a genuine speed 900 and as such is much less powerful, even the 900 copies on Ebay are quite a bit bigger than my motor.

Oh. Numbers wise it didn't seem that far out.

Oh yeah, I meant to mention, I reckon Onyx's wheel has gone the same way as it's never arrived. I did receive a friend's wedding invitation about three months after it was posted so I suspect it's circling round the postal system somewhere. Not your fault btw and hasn't cause a problem at my end; it'll probably turn up eventually

That motor wouldn't hold a candle to a speed 900 , still pretty powerful though

How does an 850 compare to an S900 power wise?

So i had a nice little surprise today when something turned up that i wasn't expecting
It's a Johnson 850 motor and gearbox that i brought from Mario months ago that i assumed had been lost in the post, i have no idea where exactly it's been but now it's here i really feel like i should put it to use somehow. Not quite sure what i'll do with it just yet so i'm open to suggestions but for now here's a quick vid of it running on a 3s lipo, ignore my one handed stumbling to get the thing connected. http://s921.photobucket.com/user/mrs...3b5ef.mp4.html

I actually don't mind how they look either but tbh they never felt all that stable and they were a bit of a rush job, really when i build the new one it needs proper bulkheads that go the entire length of the machine for the extra bit of structure.

Could be my love for the 80's but I like square shapes.
Makes the machine look more aggressive in my opinion.

Matt never liked just the two straight up axe supports, Hatchet 2 will have bulkheads sloping towards the back of the machine

Of course you need them, but make them less like just 2 cut ends of HDPE, maybe ass some curves or angles in there so it's less boxish

Tower? As in the 2 support bulkheads for the weapon shaft? You kind of need those.
