Thinking about it, I've spent ages trying to get 2 x 750g robots running but can't get enough armour on them. So have a third starting being built this week as I got yet another idea for a pusher body that didn't feature 2x2 lol. Going to build it and weigh it, see how strong it seems. Was going to pick my fav and enter that, but then funnily enough it's dawned on me I could put running gear in all three and take them all. The other thing I'd thought of was giving away the chassis's I don't want for free to people just getting started to put their own running gear in. I'll be brutally honest I just like the challenge of starting with a pile of rubbish and seeing where it ends up.
Id recommend buying some hdpe sheet to use from direct plastics, as chopping board tends to be very brittle atleast in featherweights and bigger weight classes
Just heard on the Kinematic page that they're cancelling the Beetle competition till next year. Gonna move up to featherweight I think.
I've just read that post, apparently due to being too near to another event date? Its a shame, as this was the event I was building for. I guess that leaves lots of time for driving practise....
Featherweight inspiration dried up, but fear not fight fans, things are back on track!
Sledge hammer thwack bot, 12v, need to decide on drive train but have most of the body ready to start building over Christmas ready for 2017. Top and bottom are 3mm ally, sides will be angle ally, box section or wood, depends on what I can get hold of for next to nothing. The wheels will prob be internal coming out through the top and bottom.
