    Re: Team Saint Robot Builds

Yeah I have the 2 x GR01's and am just using a 12v tamiya style racing pack. It's all pretty low tech, so I was just looking for anything to look after the 10A or so the motors want to wander round the arena. To be honest I don't expect to be winning fights I just wanted some fun and to have a laugh with it all.

The Sabertooth was rated at about 15A and the next one up was about 25 I think. I wasn't sure whether to just try the 15 n if I have problems will send off for the bigger one?

I looked into 2xesc and v tail mixer but liked the simplicity of Rx -> Sabertooth -> Motors

Done a bit more on the Kettle robot

In this image you can see the battery box with the battery retaining strap,
on the left of the battery pack is the removable link position.

With the bottom level about finished, time to start the next level this is made from 6mm polycarbonate,
I had the LED strip so I fitted the pretty lights, also the clamp position for the servo to operate the Kettle lid.

You are now looking inside the kettle. This doesn't look much but this hinge took a long time to get right,
sometimes the simple things are the hardest to get right.

The link in position, cutting the hole for the link was not without problems but now it's done, so I'm happy.
also I have used the old base, as the cradle.

I still have a few things to do, but to date I have really enjoyed making this little robot
and would recommend anyone having a go.

oh you have to charge the robot though the base! that would be epic!

Seems like a good idea I will look into it after I have sorted out the other bits.

I know its only a show robot but because of something I came across with that TX/RX set, does that kettle failsafe ?

                Re: Team Saint Robot Builds

Yes it dose, I can see the Rx LED turn off with the Tx, and the signal light on the speed controller responds accordingly.

                  Re: Team Saint Robot Builds

Been doing a little more on 100DegC (Kettle bot) I am nearly finished on the lid lifting mechanism, sounds easy but to make it work and be able to remove the top took some planning.
                  Pictures and/or video to follow.

                    Re: Team Saint Robot Builds

As promised a couple of pictures of the lid-lifting mechanism

The servo is clamped to the top mounting plate with a wire link to the Polycarbonate actuating arm.
The hinge on the top of the kettle fits into the rectangular hole made between the top plate and the arm.
As the servo moves the arm across it pushes the hinge forward and upwards opening the lid.

There must have been an easier way!!!

I still have to do a couple of modifications to do to it, but it works reliably that is what matters.

The lighting conditions are not good for video at the moment,
I will try to upload something tomorrow.

                      The video as promised.

On an earlier test the kettle spun so fast when I operated the lid the kettle spun on to it's side!!

                            Hi Alan
I am looking for one, if anyone knows of one (probably for a model train) that would work on 12 volts, please let me know.

Hi Alan i was looking at this one

                                http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MMB-FOGGY-...item3f21176556

The advantage is it only uses water I imagine it uses some sort of ultrasonic transducer with a pressurizing fan for flow.

But it won't fit into the Kettle.

The oil based ones work well but smell a bit!! plus you need plenty of oil.
But I may go that way instead because of lack of room.
