  • Team Fire Force FW build

    Hello,
I am starting my very own build diary for my featherweight in progress.
I made the team name up when i was little so forgive it for sounding cheesy
last week I got the drills from argos (the more expensive £15 ones.)
they do 600rpm, is that more than the £12.50 ones?
It will be all wood (18mm plywood and oak so its tough)
there are pictures on my picasa account
BTW here is somthing really cool
check this out enter your post code and watchhttp://taxi.ba.com/

            Looks good
Are sure that the wood is going to be strong enough?
Also, how are u holding the wood together?
            Looking very promising though!

Re: Team Fire Force FW build

Ply wood is very strong so it should be fine, I like the look of your motor mounts you should remove the wires going to the drill motors and replace them with some thicker wire or they will limit the current going to the motors. Are you using the drill batteries and what esc? And the £15 drills are the same as the £12.50 drills, they have just increased the price again

the plywood is 18mm s its plenty srong enough.
                the mounts are oak.
speed controller are botbitz when i get round to ordering them
oh yeah and drill batteries might be used till i upgrade

Re: Team Fire Force FW build

you wouldn't believe how much wood i used on it!
                      about 1-2mx50cm.
so i.don't have enough for spare.
i know its plenty strong enough.
                      i think its huge.
                      45x30x9.
it weighs 4.1kg like that and my aim is 8kg

Re: Team Fire Force FW build

Actually looking pretty good mate! Looks very neat and nice. I have to say, 18mm ply may stand up to non-spinner combat, but it won't much like full combat. I am guessing you don't intend to enter full combat anyway. Don't be fooled by the stresses involved even against ram-bots, though; a wedge corner doing 15mph with 13.6kg behind it will do damage.

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

1stly the servos with carbon fibre gears, (worth a try?)
Servo moding failed last time and I think it could only get worse with the carbon gears.
seccondly, I have found M5X5 grub screws on the site (I know M5X8 is ideal but they dont sell those)
could I use a nylon M5 screw. screw it in and cut it down?
                            help appreciated
                            Archie
                            Thanks in advance (hopefully)
