more done today, got all the pullys attached to each wheel and made a battery holder that attaches to the claw section so that if i wana remove the claw and use it as a hardox box the batteries, speedo and litterally everything comes out the robot in one so it can all be mounted inside the actual robot differently.
as for chassis now thats litterally it, now just a case of waiting for my drive belts to arrive and im sacrificing my day at download on thursday to get them on and wire the robot up so i can give it a drive about lol then im off there friday morning instead
pics,
first one showing the seperate claw section- this is quite heavy but not too bad whole thing now is 9.25 kg, so im hoping for hardox on the front and possibly ti sides and i've still gotta cover up the actuator somehow, when i use it as a hardox box the whole top lid, sides and all will be 3.2 hardox or even 4mm because the base weights litterally not even 2 kg
heres one just generally of it all together with speedo and its wires just all loose- i didnt mount that yet cos i wana play around with the arrangement before i finally decide where it goes
That looks really really cool, something about six-wheel-drive that just looks bad-ass!
One question though, how are all the wheels connecting together? Usually with 6WD belt/chain drives you have to have two pulleys/sprockets on one wheel so they can all connect together. Because if you connect your powered wheels to your middle wheels, the pulley on the middle wheel will be occupied, leaving no room to put a belt leading to the third wheel. Or are you just running one long belt around it all and putting in some tensioners to increase the engagement between the belt and pulley on the middle wheel?
Coolio
Although 450mm sounds far too short for the size of the robot (Drumroll's weapon belt is 380mm and that's for quite a short distance). Unless, is that just half the length of the belt? The distance between your front and back wheels looks to be about 450mm alone.
i remember you saying you may have a few spare actuators around, dont suppose you have any high power ones do you?
if i have enough weight, i want to try and go for a bot that used claws to grab, then an axe to do the damage but i dont quite know how i could get that in the weight limit. also, i would probably use a single actuator with duel vertical crushers
its a complex design but one i think would be worth doing
still need to think about the self righter lol not too sure about how im gonna do that yet
i've got a 75kg actuator but its all plastic thou so be a bit weak and 2 40kg ones which i'd rather hold on to atm as i've got an old robot i may bring back to life that uses that spec
im not sure about sonisphere might go but im pretty much broke after buying stuff for download lol
